Peace Arch Hospital’s Cardiac Rehabilitation program aids an individual’s recovery from a cardiac event and those suffering from chronic cardiac disease. The services include six educational classes and supervised exercise classes, teaching physical activities and healthy lifestyle changes to develop a stronger heart and better health.

To improve accessibility for patients, Cardiac Rehabilitation Services implemented a hybrid model of care in June 2023. To help facilitate their new service model, Peace Arch Hospital Foundation funded a Neat Board for their sessions, an innovative multi-touch screen.

The 65-inch screen is an all-in-one collaboration device, with a powerful audio system and sound-activating rotating camera. Virtual meetings are unlike any other because the Neat Board is also a touch screen, enabling hosts to create a collaborative class for both in-person and online participants. Peace Arch Hospital’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Services is the first Cardiac Rehab site within Fraser Health Authority to utilize a Neat Board, bringing incredible results to the Semiahmoo Peninsula.

Before the addition of the Neat Board, Cardiac Rehab had a four-month waitlist, impeding patients’ health and recovery journeys. Cardiac Rehabilitation Services now has effectively increased their capacity, going from 80 spots to 120 spots, with approximately 60% of participants attending virtually. There is increased visibility for virtual classes as well, allowing attendees to feel truly connected to the material and their peers.

Through it’s annual capital equipment provisions, Peace Arch Hospital Foundation has also helped fund and upgrade the exercise equipment in the Cardiac Rehabilitation department’s brand new exercise facility.

“We are pleased to support Peace Arch Hospital’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Services’ new Neat Board,” says Stephanie Beck, CEO of Peace Arch Hospital Foundation. “Innovative thinking is one of our top priorities, and we are happy to see this new technology hard at work in expanding the virtual care options that Peace Arch Hospital provides.”
